"Merry" Sketch
I recevied this wonderful collection of things from my sister. Isn't she sweet, she is also very lucky. She lives in Florida and has many resources which to buy from. JoAnns (we have one in Newport News but it is nothing to brag about, pitiful); Michaels, AC Moore (we have one in Virginia Beach but that is a day trip) stamp and scarpbooks stores galore, (we have a nice one in Williamsburg and Yorktown). So you see she is nice enough to keep me in mind while she is shopping. She sent me Cuttlebug templates, a Hero Arts set, Technique Tuesday stamps, stamped Bellas and new white cardstock from Stampin Up that is wonderful and didn't even includes a bill, LOL.

We are on our way out of town for the weekend. Every year my husband and three of his childhood friends and their wives get together for "HAGFEST" . They all grew up in PA on Hall Avenue so they call themselves the Hall Avenue Gang. (Still boys at heart) The couple, Frank and Ellen, that are hosting this year's event live in Scottsville VA and have a new house that Frank has pretty much built himself. It sits on a beautiful piece of property surrounded by mother nature. I made this card for a small gift that we are taking to them. The stamp is a $1 stamp I got from Michaels some years ago and I have also had that paper for a very long time. Well I pray that you all will have a safe weekend.

Stamping Soldier's Sketch Challenge
I thought I would try a Sketch, and I found one on Stampin Soldier. I am not sure if there is any difference between a Sketch and a challenge. The Sketch was a challenge to me. Now if I was real smart I would be able to have it set up so that you could click Stampin Soldier and you could go to her sight, and I appolgize for that. I have to consult my computer guru at Pottsplace to figure that out. The sketch was enough for me to handle at this time. I will work on that. I used my cuttlebug for the background. The stamps are from Close To My Heart, which I have had for a while. The snowflake on the side is from my Cricut. That was fun, I will have to try another.

BEEN FISHING
Haven't been in my craft room much this week. In this hot weather my room is not the coolest place in the house. So I am posting a card I made sometime ago. I went fishing, in WalMart nonetheless. I like to see what I can find that I can use on my cards, that are not in the craft section. The tag is attached with an item I found in the Fishing Department.
JUST CHICKEN TO SEE HOW YOU ARE DOING
I made this card using the cuttlebug for the background. The paper was from my scrap pile. I bought the stamp for my sister, but never gave it to her so I thought I would use it. She really likes chickens.
Hopefully I will get back in my room and make some new cards. I got a new Christmas stack from Michaels and I am anxious to get to work on Christmas cards. Time is passing quickly and with planning a December 1 wedding for my daughter, too quick.

Just a lazy day - trying to get my washing caught up and my craft room back together - AGAIN. So I am posting a couple of cards I made last week. The Get Well Card is made from a pack of paper that I bought at Costco. I have a hard time mixing and matching patterns and this is a push for me.
The second card took a while to get it together and I am still not sure I like it. The set has been a challenge.

I must say that the inspiration for these two cards came from browsing the many card magazines I have. The first one I used my Cuttlebug for the background. To make the presents I cut different color strips of cardstock and ran them through the zyron and attached to white card stock. I stamped the presents and them cut them out. I did stamp the bow again and attached my presents to match with the bow. I used brads to add a little something extra.
On the Make a Wish card I made the background using a set from Hero Arts. I have tried to use this set several times without any luck. I also used the decorative stamples to hold down the ribbon - I have tried to use those also without success. I used the prisma colors for the cupcake which I really love to play with.
You girls out there that can tell what paper you used are a lot more organized than I am - LOL or maybe I just have too much.

Our company came for the weekend and we had a great time. Then DH went to Hawaii and took my camera. It was only a short trip. While he was gone the AC broke upstairs (where my craft room happens to be) and there was no crafting - way to hot upthere. Well the AC is fixed and I have my camera so it is time to post.
I was out shopping with my mom one day and we were in the $1 store. As I walked around, I started looking for the unusual to use on a card. I came across the swizzle sticks and just had to give it a try. So I did the "stir it up" for a birthday card.
I love bird stamps. They are cute and always make me smile. The Hey card is from a small set from Hero Arts and the Little Birdie is a $1 stamp. I used scraps for each card. It seems that my scrap stash keeps growing - I love to buy paper and it is so hard not to use what you have that is new. The flower and buttons just add that special touch. Hope you all stay cool.

As I stated yesterday, my DH took me to several stamp stores in Seattle. We went to the Amuse store and I bought these two stamps. The black and white paper is from an 8 x 8 paper stack that I have had for sometime. I have so much paper - I can't remember where I got most of it. I just love paper and I keep on buying - bought some today as a matter of fact. My sister also called and said she had bought me some new Cuttlebug embossing plates - Can't wait to get those.
PIECE MAIL CARDS
Flossie's Follies has introduced me to a new way of sending cards. You send the card and then at a later date you forward the embellishment. I received the card the other day and the flower today to add to it. What a clever idea. How neat would it be if you prepared several kits with the same supplies and mailed to different people to complete a card only with what was included. Now that is a challenge.

Okay, so it has been awhile, but there has been much going on during the last couple of months and I am trying to get my creative juices running again. I love this bird - she makes me laugh. And my good friend Flo has been looking for her. I was fortunate to find the bird and sent it to her, but I had to make a card to send it in. Both cards are cute, but I chose the second one and sent her on the way and added the thank you stamp to the first and will keep that one to use later. My sister talked me into buying the Prismacolors and I am still learning how to work with those. I am not as computer savy as Flo and Karen but maybe after a while I will get there.

In Times Like These
Today's post has cards that were created for a difficult time in the life of family members. My Uncle died and I made one card to send to my aunt, one to my cousin and one for the purpose of of forwarding a memorial gift in his honor. I find this type of card the most difficult to make, but one that means the most for they are truly made
