Happy "Bird-day"

I recently bought a set of stamps from Hero Arts that I just love. So I had to stop Christmas cards and make a Birthday card. The background paper is from a paper stack that came from Hobby Lobby. I also used decorative staples. I have had these for a while but have a real hard time using them. Is there anybody else out there that has them and has used them? Would love to see some ideas. I have some really cute ones that I would love to use. Hope you have a wonderful day.

"Merry" Sketch

I recevied this wonderful collection of things from my sister. Isn't she sweet, she is also very lucky. She lives in Florida and has many resources which to buy from. JoAnns (we have one in Newport News but it is nothing to brag about, pitiful); Michaels, AC Moore (we have one in Virginia Beach but that is a day trip) stamp and scarpbooks stores galore, (we have a nice one in Williamsburg and Yorktown). So you see she is nice enough to keep me in mind while she is shopping. She sent me Cuttlebug templates, a Hero Arts set, Technique Tuesday stamps, stamped Bellas and new white cardstock from Stampin Up that is wonderful and didn't even includes a bill, LOL.
I also added a new blogger The Stampin Soldier. (I have others I need to add I have marked in my favorites right now, I am slowly learning how to do all this blogging stuff). She has a wonderful sketch on her site and I used the cute litte birds in the Hero Arts set to make this card. The Merry Christmas stamp is one I got from my sister last year. This is mounted on the white card stock from Stampin Up. Be sure to visit The Stampin Soldier, I admire her for the job that she does in serving our country. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
P.S. Thanks to my DH for taking the picture of the card. I did the picture of the "loot" and it is a little out of focus.

A Warm Hello

We had a young lady that visited my Sunday School class this past Sunday who is going through a difficult time. I wanted to let her know how much we enjoyed having her and that she was in my thoughts and prayers, so I made this card to send to her. I used my new stamps from Lizzie Anne's High Hellos. I love this set. The background paper is from Embellishment Paper made by Making Memories and the warm hello is from a stamp set from Hero Arts. The ribbon I had in my stash - it is kind of like paper you can never have too much. I hope this RAK gives her a smile on her face and in her heart.

Stampin Up Class

I had a great time yesterday. I went to a Stampin Up Class where I received the Seasons of Joy set-just in time to make Christmas cards. I have seen a lot of cards made with this set so I was real excited to get it. We made two cards and the little box. When I got home, I had received High Hellos from Lizze Anne Designs and an email where I ordered Spellbinders Nestabilities, which are on their way. My sister called and she has bought me several things, Wow it is like Christmas, but early. Last week was a busy week so I am hoping this week will be a little easier and I will be able to get to try some of my new things. Here is wishing all of you a great - productive week.

JOY

I made this card from things left over from last years stash. I have been making my Christmas cards for the last four or five years, maybe longer, I can't remember. I do not make any two cards the same, they all have to be different. I am starting early this year, as I have said earlier that my daughter is getting married December 1 and if I don't get my cards done now - well wedding plans will interfere. The stamp was a present last year from my sister. I stamped the image five times and cut each part the the gift from a different paper so that I could pop dot it on the stamped image. I used my glitter pen to add the little stars around the package and the frame. It has been a busy week and have not really had a lot of time to stamp. I am however going to a Stampin Up class tomorrow - so I am real excited about that. Hopefully have some good stuff to post.

WEEKEND SKETCH CHALLENGE #18
I decided I would try Beate's challenge. I am starting my Christmas cards early and do not like to make two cards alike so I need all the help I can get for different designs. The background paper is from a stack that I recently bought from Michael's, the Christmas stack. The candy paper I have had for a long time and have not been inspired to use it. I thought it went well with the stamp, which is one of last years Michael's dollar stamps. It is hard to make Christmas cards when it is 95 outside and my husband will not let me turn down the AC - lol, so between hot flashes and hot outside - I go merrily on my way.

HAPPY LABOR DAY WEEKEND

We are on our way out of town for the weekend. Every year my husband and three of his childhood friends and their wives get together for "HAGFEST" . They all grew up in PA on Hall Avenue so they call themselves the Hall Avenue Gang. (Still boys at heart) The couple, Frank and Ellen, that are hosting this year's event live in Scottsville VA and have a new house that Frank has pretty much built himself. It sits on a beautiful piece of property surrounded by mother nature. I made this card for a small gift that we are taking to them. The stamp is a $1 stamp I got from Michaels some years ago and I have also had that paper for a very long time. Well I pray that you all will have a safe weekend.

Stamping Soldier's Sketch Challenge

Sketch 1

I thought I would try a Sketch, and I found one on Stampin Soldier. I am not sure if there is any difference between a Sketch and a challenge. The Sketch was a challenge to me. Now if I was real smart I would be able to have it set up so that you could click Stampin Soldier and you could go to her sight, and I appolgize for that. I have to consult my computer guru at Pottsplace to figure that out. The sketch was enough for me to handle at this time. I will work on that. I used my cuttlebug for the background. The stamps are from Close To My Heart, which I have had for a while. The snowflake on the side is from my Cricut. That was fun, I will have to try another.

CUTE AS A PUMPKIN
"NOT"
My daughter recently went to a wedding shower, one of her best friends is getting married. She needed some advice for the Bride - my motto is Laugh at yourself, laugh at the other and laugh together. Well I had to laugh at myself when I really looked at this card. That pumpkin is by no means cute - as a matter of fact, it looks a little scary.
I have spent so much time looking at different blogs and admiring everyone's great creations, I haven't spent a lot of time in my craft room. I would like to try some of the challenges and have printed one off. I will see how it goes.
NOTE: My sister is already laughing at me - the pumpkin paper is sideways.

BEEN FISHING

Haven't been in my craft room much this week. In this hot weather my room is not the coolest place in the house. So I am posting a card I made sometime ago. I went fishing, in WalMart nonetheless. I like to see what I can find that I can use on my cards, that are not in the craft section. The tag is attached with an item I found in the Fishing Department.

JUST CHICKEN TO SEE HOW YOU ARE DOING

I made this card using the cuttlebug for the background. The paper was from my scrap pile. I bought the stamp for my sister, but never gave it to her so I thought I would use it. She really likes chickens.

Hopefully I will get back in my room and make some new cards. I got a new Christmas stack from Michaels and I am anxious to get to work on Christmas cards. Time is passing quickly and with planning a December 1 wedding for my daughter, too quick.

Just a lazy day - trying to get my washing caught up and my craft room back together - AGAIN. So I am posting a couple of cards I made last week. The Get Well Card is made from a pack of paper that I bought at Costco. I have a hard time mixing and matching patterns and this is a push for me.

The second card took a while to get it together and I am still not sure I like it. The set has been a challenge.

Presents and Cake - You Can't Go Wrong

I must say that the inspiration for these two cards came from browsing the many card magazines I have. The first one I used my Cuttlebug for the background. To make the presents I cut different color strips of cardstock and ran them through the zyron and attached to white card stock. I stamped the presents and them cut them out. I did stamp the bow again and attached my presents to match with the bow. I used brads to add a little something extra.

On the Make a Wish card I made the background using a set from Hero Arts. I have tried to use this set several times without any luck. I also used the decorative stamples to hold down the ribbon - I have tried to use those also without success. I used the prisma colors for the cupcake which I really love to play with.

You girls out there that can tell what paper you used are a lot more organized than I am - LOL or maybe I just have too much.

HOT DAYS OF SUMMER

Our company came for the weekend and we had a great time. Then DH went to Hawaii and took my camera. It was only a short trip. While he was gone the AC broke upstairs (where my craft room happens to be) and there was no crafting - way to hot upthere. Well the AC is fixed and I have my camera so it is time to post.

I was out shopping with my mom one day and we were in the $1 store. As I walked around, I started looking for the unusual to use on a card. I came across the swizzle sticks and just had to give it a try. So I did the "stir it up" for a birthday card.

I love bird stamps. They are cute and always make me smile. The Hey card is from a small set from Hero Arts and the Little Birdie is a $1 stamp. I used scraps for each card. It seems that my scrap stash keeps growing - I love to buy paper and it is so hard not to use what you have that is new. The flower and buttons just add that special touch. Hope you all stay cool.

Wednesday, August 1, 2007

I have been bumper card tagged by Ila. Just wanted you to know that I have been busy - My daughter's future mother-in-law is coming in town on Thursday and we have friends coming in for the weekend. Needless to say cards are not the priority right now. But will catch up on Monday, hopefully.

A WARM HELLO
This card is 6 1/4 x 3 1/2. I decided to use my forgotten sizzix machine to cut out the flower. The paper I pulled from my scraps. The stamp is from Hero Arts. Hopefully this will put a smile on someone's face.

HELLO

As I stated yesterday, my DH took me to several stamp stores in Seattle. We went to the Amuse store and I bought these two stamps. The black and white paper is from an 8 x 8 paper stack that I have had for sometime. I have so much paper - I can't remember where I got most of it. I just love paper and I keep on buying - bought some today as a matter of fact. My sister also called and said she had bought me some new Cuttlebug embossing plates - Can't wait to get those.

PIECE MAIL CARDS

Flossie's Follies has introduced me to a new way of sending cards. You send the card and then at a later date you forward the embellishment. I received the card the other day and the flower today to add to it. What a clever idea. How neat would it be if you prepared several kits with the same supplies and mailed to different people to complete a card only with what was included. Now that is a challenge.

Thursday, July 26, 2007

I made this card using the pad of paper I got at Hobby Lobby. The stamp is another $1 stamp from Michaels. Believe it or not, I do have other stamps. As a matter of fact, I did buy a couple of new stamps recently when I traveled with my DH to Seattle. I searched for stamps stores in the area before we left from Virginia. He put his GPS in the rental car and away we went. What a sweet guy.

I HAVE BEEN TAGGED

Ok Flo Follies has tagged me and I guess I am suppose to tell you seven things about me -

1. I am a wife and mother of two children - 24 and 21
2. My sister gets me in trouble all the time by making me spend money on craft supplies
3. I love to laugh
4. My daughter is getting married on December 1
5. My sister is 12 years younger than I am but she looks older
6. I now own my own laptop
7. I went to DisneyWorld last December with my best friend, since 4th grade.

First I would like to thank those that made comments on my posts yesterday. It was very exciting. If you can't tell I am new at this. I need to learn how to add stampers to my blog, I have sent my sister and email (Pottsplace). I know she can help me. And I have been tagged. Do not know what to do with this will answer when I figure it all out.

I love to go to Michaels and look in the $1 bin. It is like going on a treasure hunt. I also like to make cards that are different sizes and shapes. So I bought the card sets and envelopes, for only $1.00, to see how I could alter them.

The stamps on both cards are Michaels $1 stamps. They make cute quick cards. As you can see, I also need to improve my photo techniques. Thanks for stopping by.

Joannes has new $ stamps. I was lucky to find them since the Joannes store in my hometown is just a small store and their inventory is very limited. I had to call my sister, Karen while there to see if she had the latest, I can't believe I was able to buy something she didn't already have. So I bought her a set and sent to her and a partial set for me, I didn't care for some of them. I wasn't sure if I was going to like them, so I had to try one out. The paper came from a pack that I bought at Hobby Lobby - it was bright and colorful - just right for wishing someone a happy birthday. I was also able to get the $ stamps on wood from Michaels on Saturday, Karen needed some of those too and she had already found the new set of Michaels clear stamps and I got them last week - so hopefully with all these new stamps I will be inspired to create! Hope someone besides Karen and Flo reads this - oh well.
I'M BACK!

Okay, so it has been awhile, but there has been much going on during the last couple of months and I am trying to get my creative juices running again. I love this bird - she makes me laugh. And my good friend Flo has been looking for her. I was fortunate to find the bird and sent it to her, but I had to make a card to send it in. Both cards are cute, but I chose the second one and sent her on the way and added the thank you stamp to the first and will keep that one to use later. My sister talked me into buying the Prismacolors and I am still learning how to work with those. I am not as computer savy as Flo and Karen but maybe after a while I will get there.

In Times Like These

Today's post has cards that were created for a difficult time in the life of family members. My Uncle died and I made one card to send to my aunt, one to my cousin and one for the purpose of of forwarding a memorial gift in his honor. I find this type of card the most difficult to make, but one that means the most for they are truly made
from the heart.

The second post I am proud to say I am way ahead of myself. It is a mother's day card for my mom. Now I just have to buy the gift that goes with it.

BIRTHDAY CARD FOR MY BIG BROTHER!!

My brother's birthday is on Monday. This card is made with the Michael's $ stamps. I stamped them separately and colored them with my chalk pencils. I also used two-sided paper and a brad to pin down the edge of the paper. To give it a little oomph i stamped the balloon swirly stamp before I placed my individual pieces. ENJOY!!

ENVELOPE BOOK

This envelope book was made by my daughter, Sara. The love of her life is overseas and she is constantly sending him cute cards that she has made. This is her latest and best.

MY SISTER IS CRAZY

My sister set this blog up for me and has been driving me crazy to post something. I was trying to hold out because I didn't want to show her up with my cards. You see I am the older and she gets all her talent from me. She always wants to be the center of attention and she has a wild imagination as you can see by "My First Post". That was written by her. She lives in a dream world. So Karen hold on to your britches - Here is MY FIRST POST!!!!

I LOVE MY SISTER!!!

This is my first post and I'm so excited to share my works of art! I made this card for my sister because when I grow up I want to be JUST like her! She sent a box of stamping goodies for my birthday and this was one of the stamps. She is so creative and has all the toys for stamping and scrapbooking! When I grow up I want to be just like her!
